Daniel and his friends, Esther, and a host of other Jews were "carried away" into Babylon.
One of the lessons learned in captivity was that God could be in places other than Jerusalem.
During their captivity the Babylonians were conquered by the Medes and Persians. The Persian kings sent the Jews back to their home country.
