PREREQUISITE: None.
DESCRIPTION OF COURSE: (BCC catalog). A survey of the Old Testament with special emphasis on the leasing facts in the history of the Hebrew people as given in the Old Testament.

PURPOSE AND GOALS FOR COURSE: By the end of
the semester, the student will demonstrate his/her knowledge and understanding by
obtaining a minimum of 70% competency level of the stated performance/learning objectives.
The class will introduce and analyze the historical and literary backgrounds of the books
of the Old Testament. The successful student will then assimilate the theme, background,
and content of the books of the Old Testament in a useable form.

ATTENDANCE POLICY:
CLASSROOM: All students enrolled for college level credit in this course are expected to attend all classes. In case of emergency the student should contact the instructor. It is the student's responsibility to take the initiative for any make up work, to drop the course, or withdraw officially when necessary to prevent receiving a performance grade of "F".
Tests may be taken before due date and projects may also be turned in before the due date, if you know you will be absent for an excusable reason.
INTERNET: No classroom attendance required. HOWEVER, all assignments must be submitted via email, fax, or some other media by midnight on Friday of each week of the Internet semester Texas time.
The Internet semester consists of a regular 15 week course.
The Internet student will have the equivalent of one semester (15 weeks) to complete the course.
If the course is not completed, the student will receive a grade of INCOMPLETE, ONLY if the student has contacted the instructor and requested an incomplete before the last week of the semester.
If the incomplete is not removed by the end of the next semester (the next 15 weeks) the grade incomplete recorded in the registrars office WILL AUTOMATICALLY BECOME "F".
TEACHING METHODS
CLASSROOM: The course will be taught with a variety of learning methods. Since the primary aim of teaching is learning, the student will participate by listening to lectures and reports, and by taking notes from the visual material.
Commentaries, resource material, other than the text, will be used in class to help the student become familiar with various sources available to help in understanding the meaning and background of material studied. An Atlas or map of Palestine and the Mediterranean world will be examined to help relate geographically to the rest of the world. We shall learn together from one of the most exciting books ever written.

This is a college level course. You must not try to get by with as little as possible.
CLASSROOM: ALL assignments are DUE at the beginning of the class unless other wise noted. Even if the instructor does not ask for an assignment, the assignment is still due.
INTERNET: ALL assignments are DUE by midnight Saturday of the week they are DUE.

50% Weekly Lessons 10 points per week [maximum 150 points]
5% Responses to weekly questions [maximum 15 points]
5% Name Old Testament books in order FOUND IN AN ENGLISH BIBLE and spelled correctly. [maximum 15 points]
5% Read the assigned portion of the Old Testament. [maximum 15 points]
20% Research paper/project. [maximum 60 points]
5% Summary of Old Testament history. [maximum 15 points]
10% Final Test [maximum 30 points]
THE RESEARCH PAPER/PROJECT
You have two options:
Complete a Research Paper of ten (10) to fifteen (15) pages
Complete a Research Project with four (4) or more pages in a supporting paper.
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR RESEARCH PAPER/PROJECT
Project should be balanced and reflecting good judgmental skills.
I would like written part of paper/project on Computer Disk along with paper copy.
Will report on your paper/project during the last half of semester, if in classroom.

PAPER:
Paper will be ten (10) to fifteen (15) pages in length, using a minimum of five sources to document the material (Bible not included as a source.). The pages do not include bibliography, footnotes/endnotes, cover page, outline, table of contents, or index. The paper should be typed, in good form, including an outline and a bibliography.

Any creative project will include a supporting paper of no less that four pages and minimum of four (4) references
