- From 300 feet above sea level in north to 1274 feet below sea level at Dead Sea
- Winding path from north to south
Lakes
- Galilee -14x7 miles, 630 bsl
- Dead Sea - 45x10 miles, 1274 bsl
- No outlet
- Concentrated deposits of minerals
Wadi - dry river beds which could be used for travel during dry seasons
Wells & Springs -
- Cisterns. Often large enough for steps to the water table level.
- Were often used as landmarks and meeting places: 1 Samuel 23:15-16
- Wells often dried up during the summer dry season.
Mediterranean - The Great Sea
Red Sea, Sea of Reeds
- Crossed by the Hebrews when they left Egypt.
- Much discussion about the translation RED or REED.
- There was enough water to drown them.
- Suez Canal passes through this area.
