{"id":96,"date":"2011-01-26T03:28:31","date_gmt":"2011-01-26T08:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ministryserver.com\/wp\/?page_id=96"},"modified":"2011-02-17T17:54:45","modified_gmt":"2011-02-17T22:54:45","slug":"ol-main","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ministryserver.com\/wp\/?page_id=96","title":{"rendered":"Ol\u2019 Main Dust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table align=\"center\" border=\"1\" cellpadding=\"1\" cellspacing=\"1\" style=\"width: 75%; \">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \"><strong>Ol&#39; Main Dust<\/strong><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tNovember 6, 1974 11:45 p.m.<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<sup>&copy;<\/sup>Ray Waugh, Jr.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">If you look, you will see very<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp; small sparkles in the sandstone chip<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; left from the hewing of the symbol<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; of my Alma Mater &#8212;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">The sparkles are my friends who<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp; studied &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; cried &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; thought &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; fell in love &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; felt loneliness &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; made decisions &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; took lone walks by the 32 lamp posts &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; hoped &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; prayed &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; found God&#39;s will &#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; text-align: left; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \"><strong>People are our University Experience&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tfrail human beings relying upon God&#39;s help and&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tlooking to Him for strength.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">Dr. Brooks, you and I are by-gones &#8230; yet, those<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp; who came before &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; who will come after &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; and those who remain are all<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t<strong><u>Dust of the University Experience<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">The H-pond has changed color &#8230;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tThere are no more biology specimen &#8230;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tIn fact, the real H2O with all the<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp; slim<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; spiders<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; fish<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; leaves has been replaced by more efficents<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; and cleaner paint &#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; text-align: left; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">Yes, in life the colors often change &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tYes, in life thoughts change<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tYes, even sometimes friends change.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; text-align: left; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">BUT, the H-pond is still the H-pond. Even though, now,<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tthere are only memories of frogs, fish, flowers, leaves,<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tnewspapers scraps, sticks and rocks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">We have memories of the many people who make<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \"><strong>&quot;OL&#39; MAIN DUST&quot;<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">I want you to know that I am happy you had part in these good days for me. You may not be aware of your part &#8230;just know that your part was real and important.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">the classes &#8230;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tthe frustration &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tcomplexities of being &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tthe great thinking walks around campus &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tthe people &#8230;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tthe teachers &#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\tI do think the people are best.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">&quot;And when upon my couch in vacant and pensive mood&quot;,&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I&#39;ll smile &amp; thank my God for the<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \"><strong>Howard Payne Experience<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">Can there be hewing&#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\twithout a few scattered chips,&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\treminiscent of rough and non-formed, un-tooled rocks?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">&#8230;leaving family &#8230; trips home. .. work &#8230; library &#8230; fun &#8230; spillway .. walking&#8230;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&#8230;searching for self .. St. John&#39;s &#8230; walking &#8230;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t&#8230;looking out tall window during class &#8230; gym &#8230; love &#8230; graduation &#8230; turn around day&#8230;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \">Go to Ol&#39; Main Remains<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: medium; \"><span style=\"font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px; \"><strong><em>NOTE: Ol&#39; Main Dust was given to Dr. Roger Brooks, President of HPU, on the day before he left for Houston.
