WE ARE NOT ALONE
Those who are with us are more than those are with them.
In New York City, two youths moved through a subway train and robbed a well-dressed man who appeared to be asleep in his seat. Suddenly the whole car came alive. The victim was a decoy and the passengers who jumped out of their seats were police officers. Like lightning, they converged on the young pair and arrested them. Although these officers were "unseen" at first, they provided ample security for riders on that subway car.
We see a similar picture of protection in 2 Kings 6. Elishas servant saw why his master could be so confident in the face of what seemed to be impending disaster. We read that "the Lord opened the eyes of the young man" and he saw an amazing sight (verse 17). An invisible army "of horses and chariots of fire" surrounded Elisha, ready to protect the Israelites from the Syrian army.
Divine protection in not just an Old Testament provision. As Gods children, we can put our faith in His mighty defense as we do His will. We can move ahead with confidence, eager to fight the foe. Even when the battle seems too great, we must still trust the Lord. We can encourage ourselves by thinking of Elishas message, "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
I have promised you My presence with you everywhere you go; I will never, never leave you as you travel here below.
WITH GOD BEHIND US AND HIS ARMS BENEATH US, WE CAN FACE WHATEVER LIES AHEAD OF US.
